Dial Up Plumbing provide detection services for hidden water leaks in Sydney homes using audio detection, CCTV technology, thermal imaging, and miniature cameras. Water leaks are one of the most underestimated problems in Sydney homes – an undetected leak can add $300-$1,000 to an annual water bill. Our plumbers can safely and efficiently detect and repair roof leaks, leaking pipes, bathroom leaks, and gas leaks.
A hidden water leak can waste thousands of litres of water and cause serious damage to walls, floors, and property foundations, before you’re even aware of the leak. Water damage costs Australians more than fire and burglary combined – the average insurance claim is more than $30,000. Addressing a leak early on can protect your home, prevent water damage, and keep the plumbing system working efficiently.
If you suspect a leak, can hear a hissing sound, or have received an abnormally high water bill, don’t wait until it becomes a problem – Dial Up and have our leak detection experts assess and diagnose the source.

We have a 100% success rate in identifying plumbing and water leaks in Sydney homes. Dial Up Plumbing is able to identify hidden water leaks in walls, floors, and ceilings with acoustic and thermal imaging technology, without the need to dig up the backyard or pipework.

We’re licensed gasfitters with training specific to identifying gas leaks, including natural gas, carbon monoxide, and other combustible gases. We can safely and effectively locate gas connection leaks and provide fast and effective repairs to keep your home safe.

Our leak detection plumbers use CCTV drain inspection technology to get a detailed look at the plumbing system, to identify blockages, cracks, and leaks with accuracy. CCTV cameras allow us to trace heating system leaks, main water leaks, and leaks within sewer/stormwater pipes.

Roof leaks are hard to identify by sight as a damp patch, dripping water, or mould can signal water damage, but do not indicate where the leak has originated. We use thermal imaging and acoustic listening technology to locate the original problem area to repair.

Water leaks are common in wet areas – the bathroom, kitchen, and laundry. Most homeowners will find that liquid continues to pool outside the shower cubicle, or at the bottom of a sink, or dishwasher. This usually indicates problems with pipes, or waterproofing.

Dial Up Plumbing provides commercial and large-scale leak detection for multi-resident buildings, strata properties, and apartments. Strata leak detection requires specific non-invasive technology which will allow us to detect any leaks and provide effective repairs without causing too much disruption to residents.
For 90% of jobs – yes. However, for more complex plumbing work required, we may need to come back with more tools, equipment, product, or team members. Once we’ve identified the source of the leak we’ll always provide our recommended actions, outlining the costs, timeline, and ideal long-term solutions for your home.
A visible water leak in the home is going to be fairly obvious – you will be able to see the water seeping out of the floor, concrete, tiles, fixtures, or ceiling. A hidden water leak, on the other hand, will be harder to detect without a leak detection specialist. There are clues – if you notice unnaturally high levels of moisture in different rooms, find new patches of damp or mould, or you can hear a hissing sound, this may indicate a hidden leak. Another sign that you’ve got a hidden leak on your property is your water bill changing dramatically. If you’ve not changed any water usage behaviours but you’ve seen a spike in water use, this often indicates a leak somewhere in the plumbing system.
If the leak was concealed (underground, or pipe within a wall), then yes, you can file an application to Sydney Water under the Hidden Leak Allowance, which can help cover the cost of unexpectedly high water bills directly caused by the leak. If the application is successful, the allowance will cover 50% of water usage charge for the most impacted quarter.
It depends on the type of leak – many Australian insurance providers will cover water leaks that have occurred rapidly without warning. Other policies are very specific about excluding gradual damage, on the basis that the homeowner should have been able to detect and address the leak before it caused water damage.
Always check with your specific insurance policy and coverage. We can always provide detailed reporting and analysis to back up and complete your home insurance claim for leaks and water damage.
